Unfortunately, open meeting laws are needed in order for citizens to get access to public documents. I have had to use Indiana’s Public Access Counselor (PAC) on several occasions in order to get copies of public documents.
My position: Citizens will not have to file a formal complaint with the PAC to get a copy of a public document. I like to share more information than my fellow citizens may want to review. I also intend to have more “working session” meetings to invite citizens to share their ideas on needed improvements.
My posts at Brown County Matters and Independent Voters of Brown County, IN, reinforce my commitment to Information Sharing and discussion.
